The first step in designing any web site is defining the
goals of the client. Without proper market research, and
a set of business objectives, any project can drift, bog down, or
continue past an appropriate endpoint. Careful planning
and a clear purpose leads to a fun and productive
product experience.
01. Process inside a Nutshell
What I realised over the years, is how content
really moves up the list above anything design
related, when first conceptualizing a website.
Content and market research play huge roles in
determining overall site mapping, scaling, SEO
direction, and site design.
Market research and target audiences create design
direction beyond the company's initial brand. This
is important because you really do need to justify your
concept beyond, "it looks cool". Smart designs
help you stay on track, keep things professional,
scalable, and within budget.
Production specs are set early in the concept
phase, map the techincal expections, and to
what degree the site will scale to, by soft
launch.
Project mangement is always a constant. Creating
an umbrella of communication makes the development
process easy to understand for the client, while fun and
cost saving for everyone involved.
